I've been trying to catch up on Lnet by just following a few threads.

Maureen made some points about Vit D and the effect on the baby of not being "exclusively" breastfed.
Interesting ideas but I don't know how clinically relevant.
When one considers small amounts of water intake from containers for expressed milk that aren't completely dry, dirt and debris from pacifiers and fingers (babies or parents) I doubt any baby gets only breast milk in their GI tract.
I agree with the sun light counseling and do it but often this requires a life style change that may be difficult.
The risks of small amounts of vitamin supplements many not be completely known and are likely minor but we now the risks of mild Vit D deficiency, poor linear growth and severe deficiency, rickets.
