As a new subscriber to Lactnet, I am astounded at the acronyms used in
communication. After reading a post today, forgot to write down which
one it was, I came upon the acronym "PIS". I'm sure you can imagine what
I read. Just to see what somebody else would say, I asked my neighbor
to tell me how she would read the letters "PIS". She said just what I
said, except, that to be vulgar per Websters dictionary a second "s"
would need to be added.
I consider myself a professional, I also acknowledge that that this is my
opinion, not everyone elses, but do we really need to use this acronym
to refer to what I affectionately call "the cadillac model". I have
seen it referred to as P-i-S and P-in-S. I realize that what one of the
respondents to Lactnet was doing was to avoid using a product reference,
but please, as the professionals we wish to be known as, don't use the
acronym "PIS".
