Mary:
I recall hearing of Dr. L. Gartner speaking to a lge group in a state
that prohibited co-sleeping. The issue was brought up and an rn in the
audience told Dr. G that she was there in the er when baby was brought in
that had been "overlayed" Dr. G gently asked her if she was there in the bed
with these parents?
I do not want to be harsh or flip and the loss of a child is a truly
overwhelming experience BUT
1) newspapapers print with the goal of seeling
their papers THERFORE stories regularily get slanted in such a way to make
"good press" - defined as to catch the attention and get the paper sold, the
"real" story is secondary.
2) there may well be other pieces in this picture
that we "left out" ....you may recall some time ago there was a mother
accused of supply drugs and ultimately killing her child through
breastfeeding.... left out of the story was that she bf only occationally
andno drugs or metabolites were found upon autopsy.
3) we, on the outside, only have that information
provided to us. neither of us were with the family at the time of occurance.
