Unfortunately, too much of my class time is spent teaching couples how to
avoid and/or overcome/minimize the potential unwanted effects or consequenses
of health care facility procedures and interventions. Without all that
presently neccessary instruction, childbirth classes would be less time-
consuming.

Re: Integrating breastfeeding ed into CB classes:
Examples include:

*During discussion, demo, and practice of CB techniques and stategies, include
application to breastfeeding: massage, relaxation and breathing techniques,
focal points, visualization and imagery, positioning.
*Support person roles, husband protector role, as relates to BF.
*Breast anatomy and physiology included with other A&P.
*Preg changes, discomforts, reliefs - include breast.
*Nutrition - include a discussion about consistency of breastmilk componants
related to maternal reserves and diet, implications for mother and baby.
*Early postpartum - position and latch, implications for mother and baby.
*Consumer advocacy - obtaining breastfeeding education and support.
