O wise ones:
An asmatic mom, who had been using Serevent and Flovent, called
this morning. Her doctor told her to wean her 5 month old. She has bf
her other two munchkins *well* past the first year and is most unwilling
to do this. However her asthma has worsened. Theophylline was tried but
there were too many side effects.
Serevent is listed in Dr. Tom's wonderful source but says "no
reports of use in lactating women are available". Flovent is not
listed.
Has anyone had experience with lactating women and these drugs,
or can suggest others that may be effective? (Her asthma is at the point
where it is considered unsafe for her to be alone (without another
adult).
Her worst -case scenario is a temporary weaning (as her condition
is intermittent). I'm hoping she doesn't need to do this.....
