Hi Valerie,
I have had great success at getting "difficult babies" to latch by suggesting to
moms that they draw a nice warm bath, use soft lighting, play relaxing music
and slowly get into the tub with their baby. By placing the baby skin to skin in
the relaxing warm water...it is interesting to see what happens! Sometimes
this relaxes the baby enough to really enjoy the breastfeeding experience and
the moms seem to achieve a faster MER. Who knows...it might really be a
wonderful experience for both of them!
Good luck,
Marie Ivey, RN, BSN, CLC
