Barbara: I would be careful about being quick to label a baby "high need"
when we know so little about what is going on with babies from one day to the
next. I would tell her to keep him quite warm between feedings, wear him in a
front pack around with her as much as possible until he is past this phase,
not to let him cry it out, make sure latch is good and he is stimulated to
stay with the breast until he is full if you have to change his diapers
between breasts to wake him up again. Spend plenty of time burping him after
feedings or at least put him down with his head up for a while. Maybe he is
entering the "crying spell" period which used to be called colic and can go
on between 3 weeks and 3 months.
