Gloria,

Don't be discouraged.  Every author has a box full of rejections.  Never
mind the magazine.  Try another.  Let me suggest something.  Some
magazines are read, some are not.  There are dozens of "throwaway"
medical journals, some which are national or even international in
distribution which might very well accept your article.  It may not be
published by the Academy of Pediatrics, but it might get read and
appreciated by a lot more people and physicians (although some
physicians are also people).
