Hi Everyone,
This may be an amateurish audience research question (so forgive me), but
here goes:
What are the merits of a self-selecting satisfaction survey (people can do
it if they wish and don't have to if they don't want to) vs. a random
"visitor intercept" satisfaction survey?
I know I'm getting the people on either end of the spectrum when I offer
them the choice of whether to fill out a survey, but is the end result -
the average - usually the same if you ask everyone? (For example, are
first-time visitors far more likely to fill out a satisfaction survey... or
are repeat visitors who are invested in the organization far more likely to
fill out a survey?  Are people who had a bad experience far more likely to
fill out a survey, or are the ones who had a great experience?)
Thanks for any insights into how self-selecting results are skewed.
