Paul,

A number of howtosmile.org solar system activities can be easily adapted for visually impaired students. Search "solar" in the SMILE activity search box, and a number of activities about solar system size and scope come up, including Solar System Bead Distance http://www.howtosmile.org/record/1390 (which could be adapted with different shapes rather than colors of beads) and Build A Solar System http://www.howtosmile.org/record/8534.

Howtosmile.org also has more than 100 activities specifically noted for visually impaired learners at
http://www.howtosmile.org/resourcesearch?ddssearch_q=&ddssearch_materials_q=&accessibility%5B%5D=Blind+or+visually+impaired&verb=Search.
