Hi Cricket,

Do they need to be scopes with actual lenses/optics?

The reason I ask, is I've seen some very nice "spotting tubes" (no
optics) in several outdoor venues that direct people's gaze to a
certain spot.

If you need actual outdoor "spotting scopes" with optics, the Queens
Zoo (in Queens, NY) has some pretty spiffy ones that hold up well. I
don't have a direct contact there, but Sonal Bhatt <[log in to unmask]>
at the Bronx Zoo might be able to point you in the right direction.

Good Luck!
