We purchased plastic portable fencing for use with one of our traveling
exhibitions, The Space Spot, to protect the portable planetarium. If
staff are respectful about setting it up and down, this stuff looks good
and is easily replaceable. It's the right height to sent a firm "keep
out" message, but easy to see through.

We welded a couple of racks together out of old piping we had in storage
to hold the fencing and mounted the racks onto standard , wooden,
4-wheeled dollies for easy movement and storage.

Unfortunately when Space Spot was back at the Science Center for a
spell, everyone else started to use the fencing. It turned out to be
such a good investment for facility rentals, facility repairs and
temporary events that I had to buy a new set when Space Spot went out on
the road again.

We purchased our last set from Seton, but it looks like they no longer
carry the product. I found it on this website, but you could look
around and probably find better pricing:

Subject: Moveable (durable) wall partitions

Hi all,

We have a new traveling exhibit gallery where we'll be changing out
interactive exhibits three times a year. Our new gallery also serves as
the main pathway between two major parts of our museum (unfortunately we
can't close off the gallery while we de-install/install exhibits).

I'm looking for a durable partition system that we can have up when we
are working on de-installing and installing exhibits. It needs to be
safe to use around children. Ideally it will have locking wheels (but
not required) and be easy to store (not take up a lot of room) when
we're not using. I'd like to find something off-the-shelf with no or few
modifications needed instead of building something from scratch. Again,
we'll be using the system 3 times a year indefinitely.

I estimate that we'll need approximately 40 linear feet of "barricade".
It doesn't have to be tall. In fact, since we're a children's museum,
we're prefer to keep the walls low (as low as 3') so kids can see what
we're doing.

Many thanks in advance,
Sheri
