We recently tried e-mails to replace our newsletter and were very
optimistic about it. However, our ISP had one of the options set wrong
so that every reply to our Communications Manager was sent to her AND
everyone on the list. Folks would them be helpful and reply to let us
know that they were getting our mail and those messages were sent to
everyone as well. The ISP was so clogged up with e-mails that they shut
it all off within a half hour. What a PR nightmare!!! Anyone who was
already a bit nervous about e-mail blamed us for the sudden deluge of
mail they received (about 30 messages before it ended). Some folks
blamed us for getting in trouble with their bosses (they'd given us
their work account where they weren't supposed to get non-work mail).
When the ISP sent out the apology, we got more annoyed responses
complaining about getting even more messages.

It seems like a really good idea. And can be. But I would warn to be
very careful and make sure you trust the techs who are implementing for
you.

Hello all,

We are thinking about migrating our calendar mailing to an email
format. Right now it gets mailed out every two months and costs a
fortune. Does anybody out there have any experience with this? What
kinds of issues do you have to look out for? Do people resist?
We've been told that PDFs are nice but some ISPs don't accept them.
HTML is nice because you can have images and text, but virusestend to
attach to them, and some folks just plain dislike the format. Links
off our website are ok because the info is already there, but...
Suggestions?

Thanks,
Beryl
