ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.

Jeremy,

Headwaters Science Center (www.hscbemidji.org) is a small center
with a limited budget. Our web site is relatively simple with
straightforward design. We use a remote host and a volunteer (me) for
design, maintenance and updating. I guess that means we are using
CMS, since content is updated almost daily to reflect calendar and
events items. Graphics are frequently changed.

I initiated the web site about 10-12 years ago with no knowledge
whatsoever of web site design, had no idea what I was doing and had
to learn basic HTML. About 6 years ago I started using Microsoft
FrontPage which is what I use today. I guess that falls under the
definition of proprietary software.

We have learned is that a web site can achieve its purpose without
the costs of professional involvement and the dynamics of glitzy
software.
