ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.
*****************************************************************************
The current issue of Science, the official publication of the American
Association for the Advancement of Science, dated January 2, 2009, has an
extensive section on "Education and Technology." I haven't read all the
articles yet, but it starts out well with an article of the NSF's digital
library, including the section for informal educators. This issue also
reviews a book on internet gaming which has some very interesting
implications for museums.
As for gaming and its relevance to museums, at 1:00 EST AAM will webcast a
lecture, given at the opening session of the Center for the Future of
Museums, by Dr. Jane McGonigle with the Institute for the Future, titled
"Gaming the Future of Museums." I was fortunate enough to see it at the
Newseum in December - it is very provocative and timely.
