Hi everyone -

I thought this program might be interesting to anyone who has long-term volunteers at their site, or to anyone on this list who volunteers. National Audubon Society's TogetherGreen program is running a conservation volunteering contest called the Community Passport - http://www.togethergreen.org/volunteer/communitypassport.aspx. It features a system that allows you to track your volunteer hours online (and then compiles all the contestants' results), and people who volunteer in a certain number of categories are eligible for prizes. It's a cool way to encourage volunteerism, especially volunteering for the environment.

This version of the contest runs until July 22nd, 2009.

I've included some more information below. Feel free to get in touch if you have any questions!

TogetherGreen's Community Passport

There's still time to participate in TogetherGreen's Community Passport<http://togethergreen.org/Volunteer/CommunityPassport.aspx>, a conservation volunteering contest that runs from April 22nd to July 22nd, 2009. If you're already volunteering to save the earth, the Community Passport is a chance to see how all those hours add up and to win some great prizes. If you're not sure how to get involved in community volunteer projects, the Community Passport can give you a jump-start.

There are so many ways to volunteer for conservation - and even more reasons. Volunteering is a great way to meet people, to gain new skills and use previously neglected ones. Your volunteer work can also be critical to protecting the environment and improving the health of your community. Whether you're already volunteering regularly or just a competitive spirit with green interests, TogetherGreen's Community Passport<http://togethergreen.org/Volunteer/CommunityPassport.aspx> gives you the chance to make a difference. There's plenty of time left in the contest, and there are plenty of opportunities to win. The passport is also a great tool for keeping track of the hours you're spending volunteering - for bragging rights or just patting yourself on the back.
Why not get involved with a group of friends or a club? Challenge each other to see who can log the most hours, and check out the website to see how your hours add up as part of huge effort for conservation. Who knows - you might just win our grand prize, two L.L. Bean bikes, or one of our other great prizes, like backpacks from REI or tents from Sierra Designs.

So put in some time for the environment, and reap the rewards. Get involved with TogetherGreen's Community Passport<http://togethergreen.org/Volunteer/CommunityPassport.aspx>! To register or to find more information, visit our website<http://togethergreen.org/Volunteer/CommunityPassport.aspx> or email [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>.

Act today, shape tomorrow. Together, we can make a difference for the environment!

The Community Passport is a program of TogetherGreen, a major conservation initiative of Audubon supported by a generous gift from Toyota.

Note: Employees of the National Audubon Society, Inc<http://www.audubon.org>. and Toyota<http://www.toyota.com/about/our_commitment/philanthropy/> are not eligible to win prizes.
