There is a book about the language of physics, "Inventing Reality" by
Bruce Gregory, that raises some interesting points
about physics concepts and how they are understood based on the
language that is used. A lot of great
quotes from big names in physics from the last few hundred years about
the relativity of human understanding
of the universe. It was a great source to quote for my dissertation.

"To him who is a discoverer in this field, the products of his
imagination appear so necessary and natural that he regards them, and
would like to have them regarded by others, not as creations of
thought but as given realities." Albert Einstein

It has more to do with if there is a separable "truth" or "reality"
out there that physicists are just discovering, or if
you can't extract the scientist (and her/his perception & beliefs)
from the results.

Audra Baleisis, Ph.D. in Science Education (I just got the degree, so
I'm still excited about the title)
