The Senator John Heinz Pittsburgh Regional History
Center operates a large museum focusing on the history
of Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania. This museum is
operated by the Historical Society of Western
Pennsylvania.
The Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation
operated a smaller city history museum, next to the
original Buhl Planetarium and Institute of Popular
Science, in the 1970s and early 1980s. Today, they
operate a limited number of outdoor history exhibits,
as well as other programs.

Hi,
I'm researching museums with excellent permanent or
temporary
exhibitions about the history of cities. For example,
the Atlanta History Center
has a good exhibition about Atlanta and Phoenix has a
museum devoted
entirely to the history of Phoenix. Museums in the
northeastern states
would be especially helpful.
Thanks!
