In Pittsburgh, the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh is currently using the original Buhl Planetarium and Institute of Popular Science building (the city's science and technology museum from 1939 to 1991) as part of their campus. The Carnegie Science Center is located one mile away, on the north bank of the Ohio River.

In America, most, if not all, major cities with a Science Center usually also have a Children's Museum.
