ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.

Has your museum been experimenting with different types of media
outlets and devices to advance your promotional or educational goals?
Do you know of someone who has? We'd like to know about it!

We're looking for short (five minutes maximum) media pieces that
illustrate how museums are creatively utilizing the wide array of
technologies and outlets available to produce high impact, high
quality, low cost media presentations that engage and reach their
intended audience(s). The pieces can be audio or video presentations,
podcasts, PDA or cell phone tours, PowerPoints, iMovies, databases, or
games that were developed for interpretation, PR, development,
education, or outreach.

The collected pieces will be shown at companion sessions at the
upcoming AAM and ACM conferences in Philadelphia: Five-Minute Media
Matinee (Popcorn Included) at ACM – April 28, 2009, Tuesday, 3:00 pm;
and Big Impact/ Low Budget at AAM – May 1, 2009, Friday, 9:00 am.

We’re writing to invite you to share an example from your own
organization or to let us know about work done by colleagues. This is
a survey of what's happening in the field not a competition. If you
have a piece you think we should consider, please send us the
following information in the body of an e-mail by January 9th to [log in to unmask]

Here are our steps:

1. Send us a brief description of a project you think should be shared
with the museum community.

2. We’ll be reviewing suggestions from across the field.

3. We’ll be selecting examples that represent a cross-section of media
and organizations and asking for a copy of the pieces in January 2009.

4. We intend to share as many examples as we can at the conferences.

Please note we are not gathering the actual media pieces at this time,
just suggestions as to what we should consider. Once we have an idea
of what's available we will start collecting examples in late January.

Thank you!

Sara
