David Brauner, dept. of Anthro., Oregon State University in Corvallis has
done work on French Canadian sites in the Willamette Valley of Oregon
(c. 1820-50 I I believe).  I don't have an email address, but you could find
him through the OSU webpage.  I seem to recall he identified some
particular butchering patterns that he thought were French Canadian
rather than either Anglo-American or Native American.
