*Rural Life in an Urban and Industrial World

Saturday 13th April 2013, Centre for Historical Archaeology, University of Leicester*

This year the Centre for Historical Archaeology's annual conference adopts a thematic approach, focusing on the study of rural life in urban and industrialized worlds. Although current research has largely focused on the urban experience during the later historical period, the papers at this conference will use material approaches to explore life in rural contexts within urban and industrialized worlds. The Centre for Historical Archaeology actively promotes interdisciplinary connections and welcomes delegates from archaeology as well as researchers from other disciplines.

The conference programme has been amended and will now take place on Saturday 13th April, with the first part of the day devoted to presentations, and the second comprising a discussion-based workshop with the aim to create a statement on the current state of research and future directions of study.

Registration will open in the foyer of the School of Archaeology and Ancient History (where lunch and refreshments will also be served) at 9.30am on Saturday 13th April. Papers and discussion sessions will take place at 10.20am – 5.30pm in George Porter Lecture Theatre A. Registration costs £20, and only £5 for students and unwaged delegates. Lunch has been very kindly sponsored by the Society for Post-Medieval Archaeology.
