Dear Histarch members,

The 2013 spring edition of the Bead Forum, the newsletter of the Society of Bead Researchers (SBR), will be released later this month and features an article by Lisa Hopwood: "Seed Beads from a Shipwreck: More Than Pretty Trinkets." This article is the second in a series on glass beads from the Elmina, which sank off the coast of Ghana. Information on SBR membership is at: http://www.beadresearch.org.

The next Bead Forum deadline is September 1, 2013. Please consider submitting research notes, short articles (up to five pages in length), book announcements, announcements for bead exhibitions, conferences and symposia, and requests for information. Submissions on ethnographic and archaeological beads, and on beads from historic and prehistoric time periods are very welcome. Color images are especially encouraged. Longer articles suitable for the journal Beads should be submitted to journal editor Karlis Karklins ([log in to unmask]) for consideration.

Electronic submissions should be sent to me at the email address below and references cited should be in Historical Archaeology format.
