I am looking for information on blacksmith shops, preferably in the west,
operated on US military outposts during the ca. 1842-1855 period. I am
particularly interested in information on any that have been excavated and/or
are still extant.

All in regards to plans to develop an exhibit and/or reconstruction of a
blacksmithing operation at Fort Washita, Oklahoma, operated by the Oklahoma
Historical Society.

Thanks for any info.
