There were several articles. Here are the ones I know about -

Seifert, D. J. (1991). "Within Site of the White House: The Archaeology of
Working Women." Historical Archaeology 25(4): 82-107.

Seifert, D. J. (1994). Mrs. Starr's Profession. Those of Little Note:
Gender, Race, and Class in Historical Archaeology. E. M. Scott. Tuscson,
Arizona, University of Arizona Press: 149-173.

Seifert, D. J., Ed. (2005). Sin City: Special Issue of Historical
Archaeology 39 (includes several articles about DC)

Seifert, D. J., E. B. O'Brien, et al. (2000). Mary Ann Hall's First-Class
House: The Archaeology of a Capital Brothel. Archaeologies of Sexuality. R.

Subject: Forgotten reference... Prostitutes of the Army of the Potomac.

All,

I thought I would request your assistance. I recall reading some
fascinating articles about historical archaeology in DC. In particular I
recall discussion of prostitutes who were patronized by the Arrmy of the
Potomac during the Civil War. I can't seem to put my hands on the
article however. Anyone remember this article and have the citation handy?

Cheers,
Ben Carter, RPA
