I'm looking for information on arrastras that have been listed or determined
eligible for the National Register in the western US. I'm particularly
interested in how considerations of integrity have played into such
determinations, since most examples I'm aware of have been partially
disassembled upon abandonment.
The examples I am investigating were water driven, but lack superstructural
elements and floor paving. They are otherwise in very good condition with
perimeter walls, water delivery systems, spent dragstones, dragstone blanks,
and sluiceways still in place. they were in use from the late 1870s until
about 1895 in Amador County, California. Is anyone aware of examples that
still retain some or all of their superstructure and/or flooring? I'd
appreciate any information. Thanks!
