Hello histarchers,

As you probably have heard, there is a new journal on the horizon - the
Journal of Community Archaeology and Heritage. I'll be serving as the
American editor, and my European cohorts are Suzie Thomas and Adam
Gutteridge. It will be published by Maney Publishing, and we are shooting
for a first issue in January, 2014.

We are in the process of trying to come up with suitable images for our
cover. Obviously the three of us have a lot of images in our files, but we'd
like to open the field somewhat. At this point, we are thinking about using
several images in one cover graphic - similar to our sibling Maney journal,
Public Archaeology.

If anyone on this list has a favorite image that you (or perhaps your
community collaborators) would like to see on the cover of this new journal,
please do write me off-list and we can discuss details. Or, feel free to
send me a low-resolution version for a preliminary look (again, off-list).
Obviously, the usual copyright, permission, and release parameters would
apply.

I'll put in a plug for papers as well - there will be more on this later,
but we are actively seeking contributions from members of the
volunteer/avocational communities, along with professional submissions. In
addition, we plan to experiment somewhat with different presentation and
textual formats - although formal papers and reviews will still have an
important place. Also, we will have an opportunity to use our Maney web site
to publish corollary materials for some papers, in addition to what appears
in print.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Carol
