A reminder to HISTARCH subscribers that members of the Society for
     Historical Archaeology (SHA) and the Society for American Archaeology
     (SAA) last year voted to sponsor the newly established Register of
     Professional Archaeologists, an organization dedicated to furthering
     high standards of ethics and professional conduct in archaeology.  The
     usual $35 application fee is being waived through March 31, 1999, so
     you have only a few more months to take advantage of this bargain.
     Those applicants who are accepted as Registered Professional
     Archaeologists, and who are also current members of either sponsoring
     organization, will pay only $45/year in registration fees.

     SHA officially endorses the Register and strongly encourages its
     qualified members to apply.  Please do consider joining us in support
     of the profession.
