Hello all.
I am presently researching a multi-component site along the James River east of Richmond. Much of the research is being done in the context of a multi-disciplinary effort to reconstruct not only the culture history of the site but its ecological and geological pasts as well. In that light, I am positioning the cultural research in the context of large river systems like that of the James. I'm hoping that others are working on similar sites and/or have considered their own research topics in comparable ways.
Simply put, are you working or have you worked on sites adjacent to large rivers in which the river played a key role in your analysis and interpretation of the sites and its occupants? If so, please contact me (offlist at [log in to unmask] is fine). I'm very interested to hear about your work and to possibly start discussions about a conference session or an edited volume.
Thanks so much, Amber Bennett (VCU)
