How about Fort Fisher's moat? Were the Union soldiers buried in it ever
recovered?

I am sure this MAY have happened at other fortified sites during the Civil
War (i.e. Vicksburg, Fort Donnelson, the Crater etc.) and when later
development of these sites occurred by private parties or the NPS they MAY
have been overlooked.
