As you probably know, the Munsell color chart we use is an abbreviation
of a larger chart that theoretically, covers everything. Some people
Munsell pottery and I once borrowed a copy of the big chart from our
State Library. It was printed about 1929 and I was probably the first
person who'd checked it out in 30 years. I found pottery to be very
frustrating to Munsell, as there is so much variation in firing.
 
Within the last year, ARCHAEOLOGY mag's classifieds had someone selling
the color charts for pottery. I checked with friends, discovered none of
us are enamoured with Munselling pots, and recycled the magazine.
 
However, with glass you've got a fairly homogeneous metal so it might
work. But I would save the job for people you'd like to get rid of.
