James,

The collection at Canyon was included as one of many in the 
"10s-of-thousands of glass insulators in dozens of US collections" that I 
alluded to having viewed in my first response ... and still have not seen 
one genuine red insulator. The Panhandle-Plains Museum is a great facility 
run by really good folks (among whom are several old friends). They probably 
also have the most comprehensive collection of windmills, toy farm tractors, 
and numerous other classes of artifacts relating to settlement on the plains 
... anywhere. It may seem like a trip to the end-of-the-earth to get to 
Canyon, but a journey well rewarded for anyone interested in 
history/historical archaeology who makes the effort.
