Dear Folks,

I should have mentioned that I excavated the plate fragment from a deposit
containing mixed (domestic) rubbish dating from the 1820s to the
1850s/1860s. No maker's name on the shard but I have hope that I may have
other pieces of the plate (though doubt it).

Thank you for the very helpful and informative responses so far. Will let
you know when I have a photograph of the plate fragment on my website.
