EXCAVATION OF THE TERRITORY OF THE OLD DOWNHILL VILNIUS CASTLE HAS
REVEALED THE REMAINS OF UNKNOWN XIII - XIV CENTURY BRICK BUILDINGS
It was supposed that Fiurstenhof plan dated 1737 precisely reflected the
history of Vilnius castles, but recent excavation showed that the
Renaissance castle of XVI century was built by reconstructing the Gotic
one of XV ...
The surprise of this summer work is the discovery of 5 earlier built
brick buildings, dated XIII - XIV century, surrounded by 2.3 meter width
stone wall.
