     Adrian -

Fifteen years ago, I was a contributing author to a Phase III
archaeological report that included information on EARLY nineteenth
century boarding houses in Providence, RI.

     The report citation is

Artemel, Janice, Edward Flanagan, Elizabeth Crowell and Louise Akerson
1984 "Providence Cove Lands: Phase III Report." Prepared by
DeLeuw Cather/Parsons for the Federal Railroad
               Administration, Northeast Corridor Improvement Project.

     (Very Imaginitive Title!)

If you would like more information, please feel free to contact me
     off-list.

     Good Luck to your student.

HISTARCHers,

A student of mine is writing a thesis on the archaeology of a late-19th
century residential boardinghouse-hotel and is looking for references to
reports on similar sites.

I'm encouraging her to be less concerned with finding comparative
assemblages, than in tracking down imaginative interpretive/theoretical
approaches. Seems like there's little new under the sun since Beaudry et
al. dug up the Boott.

Thanks.
