I would suggest you get a copy of Historic Spots in California and
California Historical Landmarks. I can even copy the relevant pages for you
if you like - although I have an old copy of "Historic Spots". There's way
too much to see for someone to tell you what you must hit (I think, anyway).
If you get these books, then you can pick and choose. There's also a book
called "Placed to go with Children in Southern California". It's a keeper,
too. Where exactly is Carmello?

Subject: Tourist question
Hi Everybody
I will be visiting LA (Carmello) in late October and l was
wondering about places a historical archaeologist might be interested in in
the area - museums, sites etc, and accessible by public transport. I have
never been to LA and the web seems to favour beaches, shops and Hollywood,
so l thought l would tap into the Histarch pool of knowledge.
cheers
Susan
