April 24-25, 1998
The New England Archivists, one of the oldest regional archival
organizations in North America, will celebrate its 25th anniversary at its
upcoming spring meeting on April 24-25 at the Sheraton Inn Riverfront in
Lowell, Massachusetts.
A gala 25th anniversary reception will be held Friday evening, April 24, at
the Tsongas Industrial Center in the Boott Mills Museum in Lowell. Also on
Friday, two educational workshops "Caring for Historical Records" and
"Disaster Preparedness" will be offered.
Saturday's program will include a keynote address, "Looking at the
Twenty-first Century: What it Means to be an Archivist," by Brenda Banks,
past president of the Society of American Archivists. Other plenary and
panel sessions will address such topics as "Changing Demographics in New
England," "Legal Issues and the Internet," "Documenting Minorities in New
England," "Finding Aids Using HTML and EAD," and "Educational Needs and
Opportunities for Archivists." A reception on Saturday afternoon will
conclude the anniversary meeting.
