The SHA Webmaster Recruitment Committee invites applications for the
position of SHA Webmaster for the term 2005-2007. This is a volunteer
position open to SHA members. Tasks include chairing the Internet Advisory
Committee; coding and posting all material that appears on the non-secure
SHA site; maintaining the society's high editorial standards for web-posted
material (in coordination with the SHA Editor and Copy Editor, as needed);
quarterly archiving of web files; and revising website policies, procedures,
standards, and guidelines, as needed. Anticipated workload is estimated at
twenty hours per month. Apart from a steady trickle of updates to the
employment opportunities page, other work tends to come in rushes,
particularly for quarterly updates of SHA Newsletter and journal postings.
Annual update of the Guide to Higher Education takes several days, and there
is extra work to do as the annual conference approaches. The new SHA
Webmaster should begin in January 2005, with a transition period of six
months when workload and responsibilities will be shared with Susannah Dean
Olsen, the out-going SHA Webmaster.

Applicants should send a letter of interest to the Recruitment Committee
Chair by September 30, 2004. The letter should document previous experience
with website design, construction, and management. Institutional support
would be appreciated. Please include contact information for individuals
familiar with your work who are willing to serve as references. The SHA
Webmaster Recruitment Committee (Rebecca Allen, Judith Bense, Susannah Dean
Olsen, Greg Waselkov) will evaluate applications and recommend a candidate
for presidential appointment by January 1, 2005.

Send applications to:

Greg Waselkov, Chair
