Dear Colleagues:
I have a student who is examining the faunal remains from a mid-19th
century site in southern Indiana for her thesis. The occupants were
clearly upper class and of French heritage. (The number of generations
removed is unknown.)
We are seeking references and are particularly interested in research
which addresses the following:
1) Is there an "ethnic" signature to French foodways (in the Midwest)?
2) How can faunal remains (i.e. butchered bone) recovered from within
a structure be used to identify that structure's function?
   Your assistance is appreciated.
Kindest Regards,
Debbie Rotman
