A PhD program in anthropology exists at the University of Kentucky. I don't
know how many people would consider Kentucky "South", but I will assume that
most "Yankees" would consider it so. A PhD in Historical archaeology is
possible but I do not know of anyone one who has completed a degree for this
particular subject. However, I am attempting to be the first. We have two
fine historical archaeologist associated with the university in Kim and Stephen
McBride. The University of Tennessee also has a good program in historical
archaeology.
This is just a note for anyone who would be interested in this
              information.
