Geoff,

I am surprised you have not drawn a connection between the Anglian and Welsh
practice of burying horse skulls in houses to appease Celtic earth deities
and ward-away witch-ghosts and the partial raccoon buried near the door of
the house. Ralph Merrifield made a pretty sound case for this sort of
behavior.
