The Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Middle Tennessee State
University invites applications for a tenure-track position (#129260) at
the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the sub-disciplines of
either zooarchaeology or bioarchaeology for the 2005-2006 academic year.
Candidates will hold a Ph.D. in anthropology and demonstrate excellence in
and commitment to both scholarly research and teaching.  Ability to teach
a broad range of offerings in anthropology is essential including World
Prehistory, Introduction to Archaeology, Archaeological Methods, Human
Origins, and topical courses in the disciplinary area. Geographic area is
open, but candidates with experience in the Southeastern United States are
of special interest to the department.

The successful candidate will join a growing and dynamic anthropology
program emphasizing the four-field approach, fieldwork and cross-cultural
experience with four full-time faculty and 90 undergraduate majors in
anthropology (housed within a joint department of seventeen full-time

MTSU is a Carnegie Doctoral Research Intensive University with 21,700
students located 30 miles southeast of Nashville. The University offers,
