I ran across this article and thought others on the list might be
interested.
http://www.neh.fed.us/news/humanities/2004-09/virtualtrowel.html  The
"Web of Archaeology" website (open in December) will let people
"virtually" excavate a site.  Aided by prompts, users will make the
decisions about how to conduct the excavation.  It's a prehistoric site,
but nobody's perfect.
