Apologies for Cross Posting and please feel free to forward elsewhere if you feel appropriate.

There are just two places left on the world's first MLitt/PgDip postgraduate course in Battlefield Archaeology, hosted by the Centre for Battlefield Archaeology at the University of Glasgow. Closing date for applications is 1st August 2006 for entry in late September 2006.

The course will provide a thorough grounding not only in battlefield archaeology but military archaeology and the archaeology of conflict in general. Topics to be covered will include the cultural resource management of battlefields and other conflict sites, field survey techniques, the archaeology of human remains, the anthropology of warfare, the prehistoric origins of warfare, the archaeology of colonialism and - in conjunction with the Scottish Centre for War Studies at Glasgow University - military theory and history. A high priority will be placed on visiting relevant sites and where possible playing an active role in fieldwork projects - the Centre is currently engaged in a long-term field project at Culloden (the last pitched battle fought on British soil) and will be commencing further projects at home and abroad in the near future.
