I seem to remember a pre-1921 date for the "Made in Japan" stamp being
supported archaeologically in _Rice Bowls in the Delta_ (I believe the
authors are Maniery and Costello?) I believe they say that 1921 should not
necessarily be used as a start date because they found the stamp on ceramics
with a definite pre-1921 context.
