We’re not positive what the two materials are. You may be right about them being gastroliths.

All 3 contain non-ferrous metal. They are dense, suggesting lead content but appear to be composed of two different materials. A specialist ruled out the possibility that they are teeth. In the surrounding soil were brick and mortar fragments, a canning jar lid, 19th century interior door hinge, 19th century rivet button (for pants?), nails, and coal. Besides farming families, the site was also occupied for several years by college students, some of whom were pottery majors.
