Conductor Maksim Kuzin to Present Festival of Contemporary Music on March
23 in Kiev, Ukraine

Ukrainian conductor Maksim Kuzin will lead the Ricochet New Music Ensemble
in 'Premieres of the Season' - a Festival of Contemporary Music presented
on Thursday, March 23, 2006 - 4 PM at the Concert Hall of the National
Academy of Sciences in Kiev, Ukraine.

Works to be presented include four pieces by Ukrainian composers:
Sergiy Pilyutikov's Pastels" on lyrics by P. Tychyna for soprano solo
and string quartet, Leonid Hrabovsky's "Tihaya" for oboe and piano,
"Awakening" for chamber ensemble by Y. Hnatovskaya and S. Krutikov's
Three arias for inner voice" on lyrics by J. Kits for corno solo, violin,
cello and piano, along with Olivier Messiaen's 4 songs from the cycle
"Poemes pour Mi" for soprano and piano and Pierre Boulez' "Derive" for
chamber ensemble. These composers reflect a wonderful range of international
music and were chosen by Mr. Kuzin for this diversity.

Performers will be members of the Ricochet New Music Ensemble led by
Maestro Kuzin, who is also the presenter and curator of this concert.

The Ricochet New Music Ensemble is planning a Fall 2006 tour of several
Ukrainian cities performing music of Dutch composers.

Maksim Kuzin was selected by Symphony Magazine as one of their
2005 Emerging Artists. He is founder, Artistic Director, and Principal
Conductor of the Youth Musical Theatre "Maxima" in Ukraine, Staff Conductor
of the Kiev State Academic Operetta Theatre and Music Director of the
Ricochet New Music Ensemble. He received a Summer 2004 appointment as
Assistant Conductor for the Hot Springs Music Festival in Arkansas and
is a frequent conductor of contemporary music concerts at Ukrainian
international festivals such as "Kiev Musik-Fest', "Youth Art Forum"
and "Premieres of The Season." You can find much more about Maksim Kuzin
