The Associated Press lists a film called "Bride of the Wind" among the
numerous big-budget shoot-em-ups and sequels scheduled for U.S. release in
June. According to the report, "Director Bruce Beresford spins the tale of
a Vienna composer (Sarah Wynter) whose paramours include Gustav Mahler
(Jonathan Pryce)."
As you might guess, the character Sarah Wynter plays is Alma.
The movie is supposed to be out some time in June. For a slightly more
detailed synopsis of what it's about, visit the Internet Movie Database.
The direct URL is: http://us.imdb.com/Title?0212827. There is already a
review, which characterizes the movie as "a largely shallow effort." Maybe,
but I can't imagine it's any worse than Ken Russell's hilarious and awful
treatment of the Mahlers from a quarter-century ago. If nothing else, the
soundtrack will be decent.
I don't think this film has been released yet in Europe or elsewhere. If
any list members knows more about "Bride of the Wind," please share.
