I wrote a "gushing" post regarding my first acquaintance with Hindemith's
"Harmony of the World," and my enthusiasm hasn't diminished.
(Chan9217--Tortelier/BBC). Now I must add the Symphony in E, (Chan9060 --
Tort/BBC).

It's great stuff. I would call Hindemith a thinking man's Shostakovich.
You shouldn't have to lift one intellectual muscle while listening to this
music--just sit back and wallow in the swaggering polyphony.

Anyone know the *opera*, "Mathis der Maler?"
