* I was suddenly struck by the quality
of the score, which was definitely a considerable cut above what I usually
hear at the movies, and retroactively aware that what I had been hearing
was both very much of a piece and extremely suited to the action of the
film. *

Oddly enough, this was how I felt about the music in the TV Series "Band
of Brothers" So did someone else who took the trouble to write to the
Radio Times and ask about it. The music was written by one Michael Kamen
apart from a section of Beethoven's String Quartet in C Sharp Minor. and
included an underlying quote from "when I am laid in earth" I bought the
CD. A cut above the usual war series-perhaps because the real people gave
their comments before each episode, and had an hour to themselves at the
end of the series. A lot of people didn't watch it because of the "And
NOW" reputation of things like this from the USA (no offence intended).
It made clear several things my Father had said- even of WW1-inc. the
Afghanistan Border skirmish he was in. (NB.He was 44 when I was born- I'm
not THAT old(:-) I shall have to look up M.Kamen on the search engine.
